There is always some risk involved with registry repairs, so be sure to back up your registry before doing repairs on it, as there is a chance that you can destabilize your installation of Windows if a repair goes wrong.

Finding and removing viruses:
If you are using windows without an antivirus program and up-to-date virus signatures (which you should be getting automatically from whoever supplied your antivirus software), you are taking unreasonable risks. However, even with a reputable antivirus solution, you should occasionally do a sweep of your computer with an online scanner as a second opinion, in case your main antivirus solution missed something.
